Thursday, December 25, 2008

L3AP - Episode 31: Best and Worst of 2008

Our final official podcast of the year, as we sit back outside of one of Crown Casino's cafes and discuss the latest in news, what we've been playing and the best and worst games of 2008. As well as that, we're also joined by Australian Gamer's resident pirate queen Anna and illustrious forumite SuperBob!

L3AP - Episode 30: Duality

Bit of a different podcast this week - it's divided up into two sections. The first is Darth interviewing Dan Rizzo (ThatAussieGuy) from That Guy With The Glasses. The second is Darth talking with some of the forumites about their experiences with the eGames Expo.

Fun times. Fun times.

L3AP - Episode 29: Third Time's The Charm

Sorry for the delay in uploads. We've been stupid busy...well, Jason has anyway. This was our THIRD attempt at recording this particular episode - we wanted to get a quick one in before eGames started that weekend.

Anyway, we discuss the new Sega compilation, LittleBigPlanet's moderation woes, Microsoft cutting the price of the Xbox 360 and more.

Tuesday, December 2, 2008

L3AP - Episode 28: Technically Sound

We're really, REALLY sorry for the delay. You can blame Jason for wanting to take a holiday, and some problems in uploading the podcast. But we're back! In this episode, we talk about a new Saints Row game, EA's future plans for franchise extension, new publishers for Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena and Ghostbusters, and more!

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Level 3 - Episode 108

Another Level 3 episode uploaded! This time, in Raw format. So here, you'll get a rough show, but still retains all the awesome content. Jason reviews Gears of War 2, while Jamie reviews LittleBigPlanet and WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2009.

Friday, November 7, 2008

L3AP - Episode 27: Last Quarter Begins!

The final quarter of 2008 has begun! Jason and Young Jamie kick it off with a large whatcha been playing, ranging from Saints Row to Bleach to High School Musical (yes). As well as that, there's also talk of the Little Big Planet controversy, Street Fighter IV news and much more.

Saturday, October 18, 2008

L3AP - Episode 26: Live & Weird

Jason, Weird Kid and Young Jamie all meet up in the city...no, this isn't one of those jokes. Basically, our three hosts take a seat over at Federation Square and ranted about gaming for about an hour while people stared funnily at us. Fun episode to record though...

Saturday, October 11, 2008

L3AP - Episode 25: Ragin' Gajin's

The Podcast is back! We're sorry for the delay and the (kinda) old news, but it's worth it. Jason rages about Fable 2, Darth kinda praises the Sonic Genesis Collection, and we have plenty of Australian news (for once).

Saturday, September 20, 2008

L3AP - Episode 24: 100th Episode Reflection

Recorded the day before the 100th episode of the show went to air, the crew of Level 3 sit down and reminisce on the last two years of the show. Enjoy!

L3AP - Episode 23: War, Merger, Rage.

It's a mixed bag of topics on this weeks podcast. Jason and Young Jamie discuss the latest to appear at Sega's Amusement Show (the results may surprise you), how much Jason loves Braid, Darth plays new games, Square to merge with Tecmo (now no longer happening), the latest happenings at Kojima Productions, and more!

As well as that, we try out a new method of recording. We'd also like to apologize for not being uploaded earlier.

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

L3AP - Episode 22: Last Quarter

This weeks episode sees another special guest! Mick from OzBoxLive Radio joins Jason and Young Jamie to discuss the final (and often busiest) quarter of the year - and what you will want to play on your consoles in the next few months. Also, we discuss the latest news coming out of the Leizpig Games Convention, two new Tatsunoko vs Capcom characters and more!

Also, bonus drinking game - take a shot everytime the word "fail" is mentioned.

Monday, August 18, 2008

L3AP - Episode 21: Community Attacks!

It's the revenge of the forumites as Lux and Axle join Jason and Young Jamie for over an hour of news (such as the return of Batman on consoles, Fallout 3 unbanned, EA shooting themselves in the foot and then immediately making up for it), randomness and more! Also, the winner of the forum competition is revealed!

Sunday, August 17, 2008

This episode features a special guest, Aussie Nintendo's Captain! As well as that, Jason reviews NHL '09, NHL 2K9 and Dark Sector. Maple Leaves Forever...

Tuesday, August 5, 2008

L3AP - Episode 20: The Soul Still Burns...

We may have been gone for a week, but we return with a vengeance! Jason and Young Jamie keep up with the latest in gaming news - such as Square's new DS games and party news, the potential of a new Jet Set Radio, Paramount's Casual games, burning out on Burnout and more.

Wednesday, July 23, 2008

L3AP - E3 '08 Wrap Up

Jason and Young Jamie take a different tact with this weeks podcast - instead choosing to dedicate the ENTIRE show to their thoughts on the E3 show - which'll be returning next year. We discuss Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Sega, Activision, EA, Square-Enix and more.

Wednesday, July 16, 2008

L3AP - Episode 19: E3 Preview Show

In this weeks Level 3 Podcast, Jason and Young Jamie talk about E3, which should be happening as this podcast is released! We talk about the big three, as well as make some predictions about what the third parties are up to. We also talk about the latest in fighting game news, a new Wolfenstein, Fallout 3 getting banned and more.

Friday, July 11, 2008

L3AP - Episode 18: DarthHomer vs the King of Foolz and the Queen of Melons

On this weeks Level 3 podcast – an interesting dilemma arises. Jason isn’t around to record, and Young Jamie not wanting to record on his own again, ropes in two members of the Level 3 forums: Nichole (MelonQueen) and Benjamin (Foolz). The unlikely trio discuss the latest in fighting game news (regarding Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Soul Calibur IV), the most anticipated port of a game in a long time (Chrono Trigger), Burnout getting Trophy support, Castlevania looking like Death Note as well as spirited debates on Yoda vs Darth Vader, Pokemon/RPG’s and more.

It’s the most interesting podcast we’ve done in a while – definitely worth a listen.

L3AP - Episode 17: Half-Year In Review

Half a year gone already? How time flies. Join Jason and Young Jamie as they discuss some of the biggest games to hit in the past six months, as well as some of the biggest to hit in the next six. Also, we discuss the latest in news (such as Kratos potentially appearing in Soul Calibur IV, PS3 firmware 2.40, Megaman 9 and Castlevania Judgement).

Also - Jason reveals a sick obsession with a certain genre of sports game. Want to know? Download and enjoy!

L3AP - Episode 16: ...For Another Day

Tangents can be fun, can’t they? In today’s episode, Jason and Young Jamie pay tribute to that – talking about tangents suggested by the community, as well as coming up with some unique ones along the way. As well as that, the lads talk about the newest additions to Tatsunoko vs Capcom and MK vs DC Universe, Infinity Ward looking to the stars, Speeding Undercover and the latest in the Itagaki/Tecmo saga.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

L3AP - Episode 15: Itagaki Has Left The Building...And Crossed Swords With Vader

Level 3 - Haze/Metal Gear Retrospective Pt.1/Wii Fit

As our loyal viewers are aware, C31 screwed us last week. So here’s us getting one back. Jason reviews Haze, Jamie reviews WiiFit and we present part 1 of our Metal Gear retrospective. Hell, if we get enough of a response, we may make this a permanent thing...

L3AP - Episode 14: Gear Up

This week, Metal Gear. Lots, and lots of Metal Gear. In our longest (over an hour long - and spoiler filled) feature discussion yet, Jason and Jamie talk all things Metal Gear.

Also, we talk about Wario shaking onto the Wii, the return of Oddworld, Ubidays, Street Fighter IV and the Saints Row 2 delay.

Tuesday, June 3, 2008

L3AP - Episode 13 : God Tier

It’s a smattering of news in this episode of the Level 3 Podcast. In less than 80 minutes, Jason and Young Jamie discuss the latest Capcom fighter (and figures), Metal Gear Solid 4 stuf, interesting rumours from EGM, a Swedish Prince of Persia and what you’ll be a star of singing this month.

Monday, May 26, 2008

L3AP - Episode 12: Rock On

The twelfth episode of the Level 3 podcast rocks on about licensed music in games. Good thing? Bad thing? All depends on what the music is, really.

Also, Jason and Young Jamie nearly get into online fisticuffs over product placement in Metal Gear Solid 4. That should be enough to convince you to download this episode (what, you haven’t already?)

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

L3AP - Episode 11: One Man Show

It’s a very unique situation on this episode of the Level 3 Podcast. Jason’s out, Jamie can’t make recording, and The Weird Kid is off being...weird. So it’s up to Young Jamie, recovering from a cold, to deliver the news to the masses...well, dozens.

Anyway, expect a whole heap of game announcements (thanks to Activision, EA and Sony), Movie News (thanks to Take 2 and Gore Verbinski) and some talk of RPGs, good ones!

Monday, May 12, 2008

L3AP - Episode 10: Good Titles Alltaken

In the last of our big GTA IV episodes, Jason and Young Jamie sit down and discuss their initial experiences in Liberty City so far. Minor spoilers ahoy, if you're the type to avoid it.

Monday, May 5, 2008

eGames Expo 2007 - Episode 1

Sorry for the delay guys, this was our first ep covering the eGames expo last year. We’re joined by Amelia, who we really don’t see enough of nowadays. Anyway, enjoy!

Sunday, May 4, 2008

L3AP - Episode 09: Good Times with Anarchy

In the 9th Level 3 podcast, you'll hear excitement (Jason's first experiences with GTA IV), anger (Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 delayed), annoyance (Guitar Hero IV might not be Guitar only anymore) and more.

Please to enjoy.

Sunday, April 27, 2008

L3AP - Episode 08: Grand Theft Anticipation

There's a game coming out this week, perhaps you've heard of it? That's right, on this week's (yes, we're trialing a weekly schedule) podcast, Jason and Young Jamie discuss the GTA series, from its roots as a top down game to the juggernaut that it is today.

Also, we discuss the weirdest crossover ever, custom soundtracks for Burnout, plenty of rumours and more!

Finally, we'd like to apologize for the delay in podcast release. We had some tech issues, but we're slowly working to fix that.

L3AP: Episode 07 - Let's Rock!

Those sounds of humming might sound like familar gaming tunes, but in reality, it's the seventh episode of the Level 3 Podcast! Join Jason and Young Jamie in a podcast full of yelling, excitement, awesome gaming music, April Fools Jokes, the Power of Nintendo, open world games, dogs & rabbits (plus grim reapers) and more!

Level 3 - Another Pre-Christmas Ep

Guys, this was an ep we filmed just before Christmas, and I chose to put it up today due to the unveiling of Extra Life on the Blog. It’s the episode in which Jason reviews Assassin’s Creed, so I thought it made sense to give Jason's original review as he's reviewing it. What...?

Anyway, we also review Mass Effect and Guitar Hero. Enjoy!

Friday, April 4, 2008

L3AP - Episode 06: Birthday Bash

It’s birthday time for two of the biggest consoles out there. On the 23rd of March, both the PS3 and 360 had been on Australian shelves for a year and two years respectively. So what can both consoles do to ensure that 2008 is the year of the PS3 or another year of 360 dominance? Join Jason, a surprisingly coherent and sage like Drunken Editor and Young Jamie as they engage in a debate more civilized than any System Wars topic you’d ever see.

Also, expect news on Bioshock 2, Gran Turismo 5, Capcom's downloadable games and a rushed conclusion.

Level 3 - Frontlines/Lost/Ghost Squad Reviews

Guys, this was the episode that appeared last week. We’ve seen it up elsewhere, and figured we’d prefer the hits over one of the video sharing sites. We review Frontlines: Fuel of War, Lost: Via Domus and Ghost Squad. Enjoy!

L3AP - Episode 05: News Of The World

It’s funny how something as simple as a bad internet connection can shape a podcast. On today’s episode, Young Jamie and Jason ditch the feature discussion and settle in for some news discussion, and focus on a much shorter show overall. But in any case, expect discussions on the following: Crysis on PS3/360, Dexter entering the Gaming Realm (but no Lab..), Phil Harrison joining Infogrames, PS3 selling a million in Europe (and potential promises of some cool stuff), a potential sequel to Heavenly Sword, Activision doing more for Australia than Nintendo would, ACMI’s Game On Exhibition, the passing of a true Dungeon Master and some talk on a heated rival.

Level 3 would also like to apologize for the last episode taking so long to update – we’re hoping for a shorter timeframe this time around.

Level 3 - More PS3 Reviews and Political Promises

Here’s yet another classic ep of Level 3. Jason reviews Folklore, Jamie reviews FEAR and Senator Conroy commits to a review of the Film rebate system. Also, the contests are no longer valid. We love your emails, guys, but not when they’re about 3 month old contests!

Sunday, March 2, 2008

L3AP - Episode 04: Rage, Otherwise Much Strife

It’s one of the most controversial acts that a gamer can do, but it’s also one of the most beneficial. Of course, we speak of Emulation. On today’s episode, Jason, Young Jamie and (surprisingly!) The Weird Kid talk about what it’s like using their computers (or consoles) to play the games of the past and present.

We also talk about why emulation is a benefit and why it’s a curse. As well as this, we talk about Activision becoming the new Konami, Nintendo Europe giving hope to Wii owners, more Capcom installation woes (but high-res Bionic Commando Rearmed...unless you own a 360), bring up GDC (and one of the most obvious sequels in recent history is finally confirmed...which isn’t Portal 2...or is it?), AOU and some rumours (that aren’t acronyms).

All this and more in the latest Level 3 podcast!

L3AP - Episode 03: Those Brothers, Always Brawling...

The third time’s always a charm. On our third episode, we have our longest podcast so far, featuring an epic whatcha been playing and news segement, followed by a discussion on Smash Bros – past, the present and future. We also talk about heaps of news – things like Red Alert 3 (or Generals 2...or something else) happening, the Metal Gear Solid Collection PAL gamers wish they could own, Street Fighter IV characters (it’s more Street Fighter 2.5 than ever before) and heaps of game announcements: Some great (Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Twisted Metal PS3), some interesting (Band Mashups, Red Faction 3), some bad (most of Activisions 2008 schedule) and some weird (Juno and Major League Eating).

Finally, this episode marks the debut of a brand new recording method – and works to great effect. If you like what you see, leave us a comment! We only hope to get better thanks to listeners!

NOTE: This is a larger file than normal and does feature some audio crackling. We are working on a better version of the show.

Level 3 - The Return of Jamie

This episode is the triumphant return of everyone's favourite Sony fanboy, Jamie McDonald! That’s right, the very same episode when Jamie’s contract with BB ran out and he joined us back in the fold on Level 3. He covers Resistance and talks to Tom Crago from the GDAA about important matters, while Jason covers Stuntman: Ignition. Enjoy!

Level 3 At eGames 2007

eGames is great; Never gets old, especially three months on. This was our coverage of the eGames and Entertainment held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. We spoke to the Ozboxlive crew, Darren from Gamerz Bunker, student developers and the creator of Tzuga. Busy day that one.

Also, remember that the contests are no longer valid. We love getting emails, don’t get us wrong, but not ones asking about 3 month old contests.

Level 3 - Final Pre-Christmas Episode of 2007

I hope this will whet your appetite for Level 3 content. This is the latest ep we’re allowed to have up due to 31’s copyright policy. We cover Super Mario Galaxy, NFS ProStreet, Spiderman:Friend or Foe and WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2008.

So enjoy and stay tuned for updated eps more frequently. We so mean it this time...

Level 3 Podcast - Episode 02

No new games, the Australian summer, the accidentally unprevented Metal Gear spoiler from the last podcast, and the lack of Burnout Paradise in Australia leads to a discussion on how it all ends. Video games, that is. This episode, Jason and Young Jamie discuss the best, the worst, and the weirdest video game endings in history.
Satisfaction, frustration and weirdness – expect them all.

Also, expect much frothing at the mouth over SNK Arcade Classics Vol.1, curiosity over the Factor 5/Kid Icarus rumour, why you could possibly not be playing God of War III until late 2009, Prince returns to gaming (the Persian one, of course), Final Fantasy XIII gets a demo (but no release date), how awesome February and March will be and more!

A packed show filled to the brim for your listening. Please enjoy.

Level 3 Podcast - Episode 01

The very first real episode of the Level 3 Podcast, after much delay, is finally here! Join Jason and Young Jamie in discussions of the weird (Darth Vader and Yoda in Soul Calibur IV), the wonderful (Resistance 2 made official) and of the future (what do we expect and hope for in 2008). Note that this episode was recorded on the 13th of January, so apologies for the news being somewhat out of date.

Level 3 Podcast - Episode 00

The very first episode of the Level 3 podcast. Essentially a test episode to not only introduce a few things, but to also see if we can get this on iTunes successfully. If you've downloaded and listened to this, then chances are, we've succeeded!

Level 3 At eGames 2006

Jason and Jamie visit the eGames Expo in Melbourne. Chock-full of interviews with organizers and exhibitors. Runs for about 26 minutes.
